MUSIC FOCUS: Yo Man!
Choreographer Kader Attou, currently enjoying international fame, has created The Roots, a hip hop piece for eleven male dancers, which has won over audiences and critics from New York to Paris. Now they take Helsinki.
The Roots returns to the roots of hip hop, while playfully questioning the identity of the dance style. The inspirations from his youth – circus and boxing – the combination of both eastern and western dance styles are the influences for the piece about humanity, and the recognition and ignorance of otherness.
The Roots 25.–27.5.
Finnish National Theatre.
